Provides academic advising, financial literacy information, workshops on academic skills, and other academic support for USC Union students in Union and Laurens. Works with faculty to plan, execute, and evaluate tutoring, workshops, and other services. Coordinates with other student services on campus, such as Admissions, Financial Aid, and Disability Services. Assists with student events for Academic Success Center to increase on-campus involvement. Coordinates career services and internship opportunities for students on campus. Assists in planning/executing workshops for students on academic skills. Assists with academic advising as needed. Assists with exam proctoring for USC Union and for students from other institutions. Assists with standardized test proctoring and tutoring for students from other state organizations, both on- and off-site, including the Department of Juvenile Justice.
Provides tutoring in research and writing skills, and in discipline(s) appropriate given academic background. Coordinates with USC Union, Laurens location, to provide in-person and remote tutoring services to students at that site. Mentors students pursuing Graduation with Leadership Distinction. Communicates with instructors as needed.
Supervises, and manages daily operations and manages equipment, supplies, and budget for the actual Center and for student success online media. Assists with coverage of Academic Success Center. Receives telephone and walk-in requests and handles appropriately. Enforces computer lab rules, policies, and procedures. Assists with scheduling use of computer lab by faculty, staff, and students. Provides preliminary troubleshooting of computer questions/problems. Assists in the operation of instructional equipment.
Identifies, schedules, trains, and evaluates tutorial staff in coordination with faculty advisor, and supervises tutors and other assistants.
Develops assessments, maintains data on students to determine success of activities and programs provided by the Center, and completes reports.
Prepares grants for additional funding for the Center.
Assists with maintenance of web page and social media for Academic Success Center.
Other duties as assigned.
