Position Description

Director of the Academic Advising Center Gannon University, a Catholic university, invites applications for the Director of the Academic Advising Center. This position provides leadership in the development, implementation, and operation of integrated, innovative, and effective academic advising services. In collaboration with faculty, administration and student service colleagues throughout the institution, the position works to support student success and affect improved student retention by coordinating and providing high-quality academic advising and through the design and implementation of an Academic Advising plan. Must be able to support and promote the University's Mission.


Requirements: The successful candidate must have knowledge of current theories and practices in higher education academic advising and retention; a Master's degree in a related field required (i.e., higher education, educational psychology, education, counseling, student personnel); at least three years of supervisory experience in academic advising or academic support services at the college/university level; working knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Word, FrontPage, and PowerPoint; experience with Datatel Colleague system preferred; and effective presentation skills along with excellent verbal and written communication skills.
