Position Description
Full time, 11 Month, Tenure Track


Duties

-Assist student-athletes in formulating and assessing academic and career goals
-Advise student-athletes of curricular requirements, academic options, and institutional, NCAA and conference policies and procedures
-Coordinating learning services, tutorial, and academic support programs for assigned student athletes
-Conduct group and individual advising sessions, workshops, and prepare and present informational sessions
-Providing learning support for student-athletes with documented or suspected learning disabilities/issues and high-risk student-athletes
-Prepare detailed degree audits to assess and document student-athletes’ academic progress, including initial and continuing NCAA academic eligibility
-Assist in planning, implementing, and supervising academic support programs and services
-Work compatibly and cooperatively with the administration, staff, and personnel in intercollegiate programs
-Evening and weekend work will be required
-Other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

Required Qualifications
-Master’s degree in liberal arts discipline, education, counseling, or related field
-One year experience, or equivalent, working in academic advising and/or providing learning services for university-level student-athletes in an academic-athletic support unit
-Knowledge of retention and graduation issues that impact student success
-Knowledge of student development theory
-Familiarity with current research regarding advising issues and advising models for student-athletes
-Demonstrated ability to facilitate groups
-Commitment to working with multi-cultural student body
-Excellent written, oral, and interpersonal communication skills
-Strong organizational skills
-Demonstrated ability to establish priorities and see tasks to completion
-Ability to work as part of a team and uphold established policies and procedures. 


Preferred Qualifications
-Knowledge of NCAA academic eligibility rules
-One year of demonstrated experience in a managerial, coordinative/supervisory position
-Experience working with at-risk student-athletes
-One year of effective college teaching
-Demonstrated ability to monitor and support students with academic difficulties
-Familiarity with learning services, tutorial and academic support programs
