Position Description

Hood College invites applications for a full-time Mathematics Skills and Tutoring Coordinator to oversee the administration of tutoring services for Hood College. This involves hiring and training student tutors, providing ongoing supervision and support to peer-tutors, and the administration of our tutoring system (TutorTrac). Additionally the successful candidate will teach developmental mathematics in both one-to-one and classroom settings; will work with all levels of students and with a variety of mathematics skills; and serves as an academic advisor to undergraduate students.Master’s Degree in mathematics or mathematics education required. One to two years mathematics teaching and tutoring experience and/or training; preferably in higher education or working with adult learners preferred equivalent combination of education and experience. Demonstrated ability to present learning materials, adapt training strategies for diverse clients with a variety of mathematics skills or learning disability issues; use active/discovery/collaborative learning strategies; and excellent listening skills to accurately understand others and to provide effective feedback are required.
