The Retention Manager will be responsible for planning and conducting all initiatives related to student success, retention and graduation for the Weekend/Evening College program. The Retention Manager provides adult undergraduate students with the guidance and tools needed to carefully create and follow their own academic plan in order to academically succeed and persist towards graduating from MSMU, Los Angeles, in a timely manner. Although this position is focused primarily on program retention from tracking, to workshops, to step out returning campaigns and other activities related to student success, retention, and graduation from MSMU, it also carries a minimal academic advising caseload. Excellent organizational skills and attention to details are required as are the ability to connect and work with a diverse student population by empowering each student to take ownership of their educational journey. Ability to work autonomously and manage a complete program from planning, logistics and execution of all goals and deliverables. The Retention Manager empowers students to create and monitor their academic plan and to prepare for advising meetings so that the focus of these meetings may address not only academics, but also other concerns influencing student success and persistence towards degree completion. These include advocating for students and role modeling successful coping with concerns such as those related to financial aid, business office, and student work/life personal challenges and concerns. The ideal candidate will possess a genuine passion for educating and empowering adult undergraduate students.
Provides complete oversight and planning for all WEC retention and student success programming. Works with WEC Dean, staff, Office of Institutional Technology and VP of Enrollment Management to track WEC student retention (fully online and on campus). Meets with current, prospective and step-out returning adult undergraduate students enrolled through the WEC (both on campus and fully online) to educate and equip them with the necessary tools to carefully create and follow their academic plan of study towards timely degree completion.

Minimum of completed baccalaureate degree required, ideally from a small private liberal arts institution. Masters level preferred. • Participation in national and/or regional adult higher education conferences/professional organizations helpful.
Preference given to candidates with prior experience working in adult undergraduate degree programs/academic advising / retention and enrollment management. • Recommendation to add specific range of years of experience required. As an example 1-3 years of work directly related to student success programming and retention.
